Burkina Faso, a country of honest men, has been facing terrorism threats for several years which involve massive displacements of the population in search of security. Unfortunately, these armed attacks increased the number of families destroyed, leaving many women and children without financial resources.
According to the National Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Council (CONASUR), as of December 31, 2022, Burkina Faso had 1,882,391 internally displaced people, 58.44% of whom are children. The regions most affected by the phenomenon are the Center-North, the Boucle du Mouhoun, the Sahel, the North and the East of the country.
According to data from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), updated on August 31, 2023, there are now more than 1.9 million internally displaced people in the country. Very overwhelming figures if we consider that the number of people in need is 4.7 million and that 52% of internally displaced people are children.
The latest pouches which took place recently did not help the precarious situation of the displaced since they considerably slowed down government and international interventions.
